The Melrose Messenger

Keeping Melrosians Informed Since 2024

Colette Bakery

Oh! La! La! Melrose has a touch of Paris on Main Street.

Colette Bakery expanded to Melrose less than a year ago but is already a local favorite by the flow of traffic going in and out of the narrow store.

The French pasties, breads and sandwiches are made daily and will having you dreaming you are sitting by the Eiffel Tower.

We have indulged in the croissants, quiche, macaroons, and meringues. All full of flavor without being overly sweet. My favorite is the passion fruit meringue, visually beautiful with an amazing texture and taste. It is probably the best dessert I have tasted, and I have tasted a lot of desserts.

The Parisian sandwiches are served on crusty French bread filled with high quality ingredients; they do sell out quickly so plan an early lunch. There is no seating inside but there is a parklet nearby on a nice day.

If it is cold and raw grab yourself a hot chocolate – made with real chocolate and froth created right before your eyes! They also serve coffee and tea.

The Melrose store is run by the owner's daughter, Clementine. There is also a Medford location.

Their logo is a fictional dog that is part French Bulldog, part Boston Terrier to illustrate the French-Boston connection.
