Sit 'N Knit

sit n knit

It was gloomy this afternoon but I found a rainbow 🌈 of color at Lucky Cat Yarns (now back to the name Sit 'N Knit) on West Emerson Street in Melrose.

What drew me into the store was a flower box outside the window with no flowers but beautiful knitted hats with a note attached saying “I am not lost, if you are cold please take me”. What a kind and generous gesture. I had to investigate this store. I entered and was surrounded by every color of yarn imaginable. I immediately felt happy. I am not a knitter but could sense the creativity in the room.

Jennifer Schnorrenberg Goldenberg has owned the shop for 2.5 years but it has been a yarn shop for over 30 years.

The yarn shop is full of the softest yarns in a rainbow of colors. Available for sale are crochet hooks, knitting needles, buttons, a bargain bin, and more.

The supplies are not the draw, it is the owner, Jennifer and her staff’s expertise. If you need help kitting your first pair of socks or assistance with a difficult pattern, Lucky Cat is the place to go.

The shop has open knit hours where all skill levels are welcome to come crochet, knit, learn, and share adventures.

I stopped by on a Saturday and the work table was surrounded with women and men of all ages, supportively helping and encouraging each other. You could feel the warmth.

Jennifer also does repairs so bring in your favorite sweater that has a hole or snag.

Next time you are in the Cedar Park area stop in to Lucky Cat Yarns and get your fill of color and inspiration.
