It is with a heavy heart and great sadness that the Melrose Police Department announces the unexpected passing of Officer Stephen Galvin on July 16th at the age of 51.
Officer Galvin was a 27-year veteran of the Melrose Police Department and a veteran of the United States Navy. Before his untimely death he held the coveted “Badge One”, as the most senior Patrol Officer in the MPD, a title he was very proud of.

Stephen was active and held various positions on the Melrose Police Relief Corporation and Melrose Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #25 Executive Boards. He was currently serving as the Secretary of both organizations.
