Melrosians have put up their Halloween decorations, carved their pumpkins, chosen their costumes, and bought lots of candy for trick-or-treaters. As Halloween approaches, residents of all ages have a number of fun events to look forward to.
This Saturday, October 25th, Buckalew’s will be hosting a costume party all day, and on Sunday, the Melrose Dog Society will host their annual dog costume contest.
But the biggest events will take place on Halloween itself, which this year falls on Friday. Between 3:30 and 5pm on Halloween, Main Street (between Upham Street and Grove Street) will be closed for the annual Trick or Treat event. Melrosians will stroll down Main Street in their costumes, and businesses will hand out candy to children of elementary age and younger. This event can get busy, so come early!

While the main event will be on the downtown stretch of Main Street, visitors are also encouraged to stop by:
- MMTV studios, where local television stars will be meeting fans in costume;
- Foundation Trust (at 630 Main Street, between 3 and 5pm) for an interactive fairy house adventure;
- The Residence at Melrose Station for some intergenerational fun and treats; and
- Bobby C’s for a costume contest, trick-or-treating, and more.
And, of course, after the fun on Main Street ends, kids will go around their neighborhoods for some traditional trick-or-treating.
We can’t wait to see everyone’s costumes and decorations!
