Jenny Rose

Have you ever met someone and thought, How do they do it all? Jenny Rose, a lifelong Melrosian, is one of those people.
A self-described homebody, she felt isolated after the pandemic but pushed herself to reconnect with her community. Last summer, she launched the Melrose Women’s Meetup Group, a space designed to help local women forge genuine friendships. The group welcomes women of all ages and meets regularly for a variety of events, including a Valentine’s Day gathering, an ugly sweater party, and a paint night. Members have also enjoyed knitting and crocheting lessons, and a self-defense class. She is currently planning a St. Patrick’s Day celebration.
Jenny has even organized a book club, with The Beantown Girls as the current read.
Beyond her work fostering community, Jenny is a dedicated dog walker and sitter, as well as a volunteer with Missing Dogs Massachusetts. She’s often called upon to assist in locating lost or found dogs in Melrose, and she’s a passionate advocate for the Melrose Dog Park, where she organizes the annual Halloween dog costume contest and Easter dog photo booth.
Her commitment to sustainability is just as impressive. She runs a Facebook page called Jenny’s Dumpster/Curb Finds, which is dedicated to keeping usable items out of landfills. Most of the items she discovers — ranging from brand-new Halloween costumes and greeting cards to clothing with tags, stuffed animals, and cosmetics - are given away for free, and occasionally she charges while a portion of any sales supports dog rescue efforts. With a well-mapped route and an eye for hidden treasures, Jenny gets an adrenaline rush every time she uncovers a great find.
Her Bucket List includes: Advocate for renovations at the Melrose Dog Park; Take a dream trip to Hawaii; and Strive to be a better person every day.
Through her passion for building connections, supporting animals, and promoting sustainability, Jenny Rose continues to make Melrose a better place — one friendship, one rescued dog, and one incredible find at a time.
